Brand-name or compounded?
Many weight loss programs in the area prescribe compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide, which a pharmacy mixes rather than the manufacturer making it. Compounded drugs aren't FDA approved, and the FDA has reported dosing errors with some compounded GLP-1 injections. Our program prescribes brand-name Zepbound, made by Eli Lilly, so you get the same product that was studied in the SURMOUNT trials.

What results look like
In SURMOUNT-1, adults with obesity on the highest dose of tirzepatide lost about 20% of their body weight on average over 72 weeks, alongside diet and exercise. Most people feel less hungry in the first few weeks, and the scale moves more as the dose rises. Your own result depends on your starting point, your dose and your habits.
What happens if you stop
SURMOUNT-4 looked at exactly this. People who stopped tirzepatide after about nine months regained a substantial share of the weight over the following year, while those who kept taking it continued to lose. That's why maintenance is planned from the start rather than left until the end.
Who the program is for
Zepbound is FDA approved for adults with a BMI of 30 or higher, or 27 or higher with a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes or high cholesterol. Zepbound also carries an FDA approval for treating moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea in adults with obesity. The program is open to men and women, and it's used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and more activity.
It isn't prescribed if you or a family member has had medullary thyroid cancer, if you have MEN 2, or during pregnancy. Mention any history of pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, kidney disease or diabetic eye disease at your consultation.

The medication quiets your appetite. What you do with that window is what keeps results. Your provider will talk you through the basics: protein at every meal so you keep muscle, strength training a few times a week, steady water through the day, and smaller meals that stop at full.
