How it works
Radiesse contains calcium hydroxylapatite, and Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid. Both prompt your body to build new collagen, and Radiesse also adds some volume right away, which is why it's the product we use most often for BBLs. Your provider will choose the best option for your goals. Results develop gradually, so they look natural.
What to expect at your appointment
After numbing, the product is injected in several areas. Sessions take about 45 to 60 minutes. Mild soreness and swelling are common for a few days.

How many sessions will I need?
Most people need one to three sessions, depending on their goals. Because results come from your own collagen, they build gradually and look natural, and they can last up to two years or more.
Aftercare
- For 24 to 48 hours, avoid sitting or putting direct pressure on the treated area. Stand or lie face down when you can.
- For 1 to 2 weeks, use a soft cushion when you sit, and skip strenuous workouts and heavy lifting.
- Avoid saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms and tanning beds, and protect the area from the sun.
- Don't massage or press on the treated area unless your provider tells you to.
- Use a cold compress for swelling, and acetaminophen (Tylenol) for discomfort. Avoid ibuprofen and aspirin for a week, since they can increase bruising.
- Mild swelling, bruising and tenderness are normal and settle within 1 to 2 weeks.
