How it works
A device with very fine needles creates thousands of microscopic channels in the skin. Your body responds by producing fresh collagen and elastin, which gradually firms and smooths the skin.
Who is a good candidate?
Microneedling works for most skin types and tones. Because it doesn't rely on heat or light, it carries a lower risk of pigment changes in darker skin than many laser treatments. It isn't recommended over active acne breakouts, infections or cold sores, during pregnancy, or within six months of taking isotretinoin.
Before your appointment
- Stop retinoids and exfoliating acids three to five days beforehand.
- Avoid sunburn, tanning and waxing the area for about a week.
- If you get cold sores, tell us ahead of time, since an antiviral may be recommended.
- Come with clean skin, free of makeup.
What to expect at your appointment
After cleansing, numbing cream is applied for about 30 minutes. The treatment itself takes around 30 minutes. Your skin will look pink and feel like a mild sunburn for one to three days.
How many sessions will I need?
Most people need a series of three to six sessions, spaced about four to six weeks apart. Fine lines and texture often improve with fewer sessions, while deeper acne scars usually need more. Because collagen keeps building for months, your skin continues to improve after your last session, and a maintenance session once or twice a year helps keep results going.
Results
Skin looks brighter within a week, and collagen continues to build for several months. Individual results vary.

Microneedling with PRP
Adding PRP means a small blood draw at the start of your visit. The sample is spun to concentrate your platelets, which are applied to the skin during treatment. PRP microneedling is $599 per session, compared with $399 for microneedling on its own.
Aftercare
- For the first 24 hours, use only a gentle cleanser and the aftercare products we recommend. No makeup.
- Avoid retinoids, acids and exfoliants for three to five days.
- Skip workouts, saunas and swimming for 24 to 48 hours.
- Stay out of direct sun and wear SPF 30 or higher every day.
- Light flaking around day two or three is normal. Let it shed on its own.
Side effects
Redness, tightness and mild swelling are expected for one to three days. Pinpoint bleeding during treatment and light bruising are possible. Infection and pigment changes are uncommon when aftercare is followed. We'll postpone treatment if you have an active breakout, a cold sore or recently used isotretinoin.
