What to expect at your appointment

Consultation. Your injector studies how your face moves, talks through your goals and recommends the areas and number of units for a natural result.

Treatment. After cleansing the skin, a series of tiny injections is placed in each area. Most appointments take about 15 minutes.

Afterward. There's no downtime. You may see small bumps at the injection points for 15 to 30 minutes, and occasionally a small bruise.

Results

Lines begin to soften within a few days, with full results at around two weeks. Most people schedule maintenance every three to four months. Individual results vary.

All three are FDA-approved neurotoxins that soften expression lines. Dysport can take effect slightly sooner and spreads a little more, which some people like for larger areas like the forehead. Botox aftercare timeline

• First 4 hours: stay upright and don't rub or press on the treated areas.
• Rest of the day: skip strenuous exercise, saunas and facials.
• Days 3 to 5: lines start to soften.
• Day 14: full results. This is the right time for a check-in if you'd like a small adjustment.
• Months 3 to 4: movement gradually returns. Book your next visit to keep results consistent.

Side effects and safety

Side effects are usually mild and short-lived: redness, small bumps or a bruise at the injection points, and occasionally a headache. Less often, a brow or eyelid can feel heavy or droop for a few weeks while the product wears off. Choosing an experienced injector and following aftercare lowers these risks. Stay upright for about four hours, avoid rubbing the treated areas, and skip strenuous exercise for the rest of the day. You can go back to work and most normal activities right away.

Who shouldn't get Botox?
