How Sculptra works
Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible material that stimulates your skin to make new collagen. Over several months, that new collagen restores structure and fullness, so results appear gradually and look like your own.
Before your appointment
- If your doctor agrees, pause ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E and other supplements that increase bruising for a few days beforehand. Tylenol is fine.
- Skip alcohol for 24 hours before treatment.
- Plan around events. Mild swelling or bruising can last a few days, and results build gradually.
What to expect at your appointment
Consultation. We map where you've lost volume and plan how many sessions you'll need.
Treatment. Sculptra is placed with a fine needle or cannula. Face appointments usually take 30 to 45 minutes.
Afterward. Mild swelling, tenderness and bruising are common for a few days. You'll follow the 5-5-5 massage routine at home.
