How Sculptra works
Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible material that stimulates your skin to make new collagen. Over several months, that new collagen restores structure and fullness, so results appear gradually and look like your own.
What to expect at your appointment
Consultation. We map where you've lost volume and plan how many sessions you'll need.
Treatment. Sculptra is placed with a fine needle or cannula. Face appointments usually take 30 to 45 minutes.
Afterward. Mild swelling, tenderness and bruising are common for a few days. You'll follow the 5-5-5 massage routine at home.
Results
Improvement builds over two to three months after your final session. Individual results vary.

Who is a good candidate?
Sculptra suits adults who have gradual volume loss in the cheeks, temples or jawline, or thinning, crepey skin, and who are happy to wait for natural-looking results. It isn't recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over an active skin infection, or for people with a history of keloid scarring. We review your health history at your consultation.
Side effects and safety
Swelling, tenderness and bruising are common for a few days. Small bumps under the skin are a known risk with Sculptra. Careful preparation of the product, correct placement and the 5-5-5 massage routine all help lower that risk, and every plan is overseen by our board-certified dermatologist.
Sculptra for the body

How many Sculptra sessions will I need?
Most people need two to three sessions spaced about four to six weeks apart. Your injector will recommend a plan based on how much volume you want to restore.
When will I see results?
Sculptra works gradually. Some fullness right after treatment is from the water it's mixed with and fades within days. Real results build over the following months as your body produces new collagen.
How long does Sculptra last?
Results can last up to two years or more, because the collagen your body builds is your own.
What is the 5-5-5 rule?
After treatment, massage the area for five minutes, five times a day, for five days. This helps the product distribute evenly.
Is Sculptra the same as filler?
